9 (tie). Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953) - Early-Modern
I usually feel pretty smug when I say I like Prokofiev, simply because he’s a more ‘out there’ composer in the standard repertoire. Of the ‘Russian Three’, as I’ve apparently labelled them, I like the broadest amount of his works the most, but nothing as obsessively as Rachmaninoff’s Isle of the Dead or Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. However, Prokofiev’s music has moments of such energy and stateliness that I can’t lower him any further. Such examples of hyper-dramatic compositions are the above “Montague & Capulets” and his Piano Concerto 3 finale.
Playing one of Chopin’s best pieces, one of his late pieces by Op. 61, the Polonaise-Fantasie remains one of the most difficult pieces to understand and grasp in the piano repertoire, it’s beauty makes all the hard work worth it!

- I'm thinking one has to invent imaginary fans and music lovers to find motivation in order to work harder in expanding ones repertoire..so dear "fans" and "lovers" I promise you Ravel's Sonatine (first and second movement) in video in less than 10 days!! Don't insult me : ( be supportive an if you don't like classical music I will try my best fro you to LOVE it!
